Blackwater’s Bulawan dies after practice

GILBERT Bulawan, Blackwater’s reserve big man, died after practice yesterday. He was 29.

A native of Legazpi City, Bulawan would have completed his second year with the Elite, who picked him as the 15th overall choice in the Expansion Draft before the 2014 PBA Season.

According to reports, Bulawan collapsed in the arms of teammate Reil Cervantez after practice yesterday at SGS Gym in Quezon City. Team officials feared Bulawan may have suffered cardiac arrest.

The 6-foot-5 member of San Sebastian’s champion NCAA team of 2010, played for four teams in a pro career that started in 2011.

“On behalf of the PBA, I would like to extend our deepest sympathies to [Bulawan’s] family and I would like to request everyone to pray for his eternal and peaceful rest,” said PBA commissioner Chito Narvasa. Musong R. Castillo
