Dominating from the get-go, Philippine Air Force took Game 1 of the Spiker’s Turf Season 2 Open Conference Finals with a straight sets victory over Cignal, 25-19, 25-16, 25-19 Monday at Philsports Arena in Pasig.
“Ngayon, nag-focus kaming coaches sa laro as a team talaga. Inimprove namin yung blockings at receives namin kasi nung unang laban, yun talaga problema namin,” said coach Rhovyl Verayo.
Fauzi Ismail showed why he is the league’s best scorer, pouring 21 points, 16 of which from kills.
Howard Mojica also imposed his might, igniting the third set break away as he finished with 11 markers in the win.
Tied at 16 in the third set, the Jet Spikers leaned on the duo of Ismail and Mojica to break away from the HD Spikers and cruise to the three-set win.
Game 2 is on July 13 still at Philsports Arena.
