Gonzales, partner take ITF men’s doubles title
ANOTHER Filipino Davis Cupper scored major success in the tour.
Ruben Gonzales, who has played hero in many ties of the Cebuana Lhuillier-Philippine Davis Cup team, won the men’s doubles in the recent ITF France Futures 13 in Bourg-en Bresse.
The 30-year-old Gonzales paired with American Catalin Gard in beating Marc Fornell Mestress of Spain and Lamine Oahab of Algeria, 2-6, 6-3, (10-7), over the weekend to claim his second ITF title this year.
Gonzales also won an ITF crown in Mexico last May where he partnered with Darian King of Barbados. JE
