WATCH: Brit breaks world deadlift record, passes out right after
There’s no gain without pain.
A British strongman took the word “strength” to a whole new level on Saturday (Sunday in Manila) by setting a new world record by deadlifting 1,102 pounds. However, once the weights were cleared, he promptly passed out.
Eddie Hall, who goes by the moniker “The Beast,” hauled the astonishing mass off the floor at the World Deadlift Championships in Leeds in northern England.
The 28-year-old, however, revealed afterwards that he almost didn’t make it out of the lift alive.
As seen in a viral clip posted by the Official Strongman’s YouTube page, Hall successfully pulled off the massive heave, but he immediately fell to his knees and lost consciousness after bringing the weights back to the ground.
His wife, Alexandra, mother of their two children Layla, 8, and Maximus,4, looked visibly shaken but broke into a huge proud smile as Eddie quickly recovered and got back on his feet.
”That nearly killed me,” Hall told Graham Walker of the Yorkshire Evening Post. “The pressure on my body was surreal. I passed out after. I had nose bleeds.”
Doctors said that some of Hall’s blood vessels in his head exploded due to the pressure from the colossal weights, which caused nose bleeds and sudden fainting.
“It’s definitely not healthy, but I’ve done it, and I think it will be in the history books for a long, long time,” added the father of two, who weighs 400 pounds and stands 6 feet 3 inches tall.
Hall’s attempt smashed his own deadlifting world record of 1,026 pounds, which he executed in front of Arnold Schwarzenegger in March.
After setting the unprecedented feat, Hall claimed he was not done yet and already has his sights set on the prestigious World’s Strongest Man title.
