Phoenix and Meralco made slight changes to their rosters less than a week away from the opening of the 2016 PBA Governors’ Cup.
The Fuel Masters acquired Ronjay Buenafe from the Bolts in exchange for Jonathan Uyloan in a one-on-one deal.
The trade was approved by the office of the Commissioner on Tuesday.
Buenafe, 33, saw limited action for Meralco last conference where he averaged 1.7 points, and 0.4 rebounds in 4.1 minutes.
The Emilio Aguinaldo College standout joins the bevy of guards in Phoenix, which is bannered by rookies Mark Cruz and Simon Enciso and veterans Josh Urbiztondo and Chico Lanete.
Uyloan, meanwhile, didn’t really have the time to blend in with the Fuel Masters after arriving in May from GlobalPort through a three-team trade that included Cruz and Norbert Torres.
The Fil-Am gunner netted 6.1 points on a 51-percent shooting from three that went with 1.4 assists and 1.0 rebounds with the Batang Pier last conference.
Uyloan joins his fourth team in a year and will give Meralco a much needed shooter alongside guards Jimmy Alapag and Baser Amer.
