San Beda cruised to a 3-0 start in the NCAA Season 92 Men’s Basketball Tournament after crushing Emilio Aguinaldo College, 91-76, Thursday at San Juan Arena.

The Red Lions tied with Mapua, which won which won the first game on Thursday against Lyceum, atop the standings.

EAC dropped to 1-2—still not a cause for panic in the long NCAA tournament—but the Generals extended their losing streak to the Red Lions since joining the NCAA, 0-14.

Red Lions head coach Jamike Jarin said their 3-0 record speaks volumes for his team.

“Now I’ve answered all those critics,” said Jarin who has been the target of some of San Beda’s alumni. “They’re always asking ‘why do you play 15 players?’ because I have 15 players.”

“For all those critics, thank you.”

Ranbill Tongco and Amiel Soberano lit up the scoreboards for the Red Lions with 22 and 21 points, respectively.

San Beda forward Davon Potts had 13 points for his troubles.

Hamadou Laminou led the Pirates with 18 points and nine rebounds while Francis Munsayac added 13.
