LOOKING to reestablish its dominance in the PBA, San Miguel Beer opens defense of its Governors’ Cup title on Sunday against Phoenix Petroleum, two days after the league takes the lid off of its season-ending conference at Smart Araneta Coliseum.

The Beermen, who will welcome back June Mar Fajardo from national team duty, will be bannered by returning import Arizona Reid as they try to start a winning streak again after getting derailed in the Commissioner’s Cup.

That tournament’s surprise champion, Rain or Shine, debuts against Tropang TNT next Wednesday with another returnee—Dior Lowhorn—as the Elasto Painters’ reinforcement.

Meralco and the Fuel Masters get the ball rolling on Friday at 4:15 p.m., also at the Big Dome in Cubao.

Mahindra duels Star next as teams try to book solid starts in the single elimination round where every win counts.

Barangay Ginebra sees action on Saturday against GlobalPort at Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay at 6:45 p.m. with Blackwater and NLEX squaring off in that day’s first game at 4:30 p.m.
