Its been three years since we last saw Richard “Rip” Hamilton lace his sneakers on the the NBA hardwood, but according to CBS Sports’ Nick Kostos, the one-time NBA champion is already working his way for a possible return.

“I’m giving myself 30 days where I am really hitting the gym.” the 38-year-old was quoted as saying in the CBS report. “I’m working on my game. I’m in the weight room. I’m running my two, three miles a day. And I’m trying to see if my body can hold up. If my body can hold up after these 30 days, I will be making a comeback.”

Hamilton reportedly talked about a probable career resurgence with retired sharpshooter Ray Allen, who is being courted by various NBA teams.  He added that he’s spoken with his agent about gauging teams’ interest.

Hamilton, who is best remembered for his trademark protective face mask and prolonged free-throw line routine, was part of the Detroit Pistons’ formidable back court in the mid-2000s, alongside Chauncey Billups.

In his prime, the 6-foot-6 swingman was a adept at moving without the ball, could slash or hit the three and play stubborn defense.

The three-time All-Star last suited up for the Chicago Bulls in the 2012-2013 season, after being forced to retire due to a foot injury.

Upon retirement,  Hamilton appeared in the NBA Fundamentals series, where basketball players showcase certain aspects of the game.

He also appeared as a guest analyst for TNT in a few episodes.  Khristian Ibarrola
