Gretchel Soltones and Janine Marciano formed a deadly duo as Bali Pure outlasted Laoag in five sets, 23-25, 25-21, 25-21, 25-19 15-11, to get a headstart in their battle for third place in the Shakey’s V-League Season 13 Open Conference Wednesday at Philsports Arena in Pasig City.

Soltones and Marciano combined for 45 points with the former San Beda standout unleashing a game-high of 25.

Marciano and Soltones stepped up big time with Alyssa Valdez expected to miss the best-of-three series.

Valdez, the volleyball superstar, is with the Ateneo Lady Eagles competing in the Asean University Games in Singapore.

Jema Gallanza paced the Power Smashers with 16 points while Jovielyn Prado and Mylene Paat contributing 15 and 13 points, respectively.

Bali Pure, which also drew 12 points from Amy Ahomiro, won despite committing 35 errors.
