Chiefs get stern test vs Knights

ARELLANO U’s title credentials will be put to the test Thursday when it collides with defending champion Letran while Perpetual Help and San Sebastian break their tie at fifth spot in the 92nd NCAA basketball tournament at Filoil Flying V Arena in San Juan.

Rolling past opponents in their first two games, the Chiefs are expected to have their hands full this time against the Knights in the 4 p.m. tussle.

Toting identical 1-1 records, the Altas and Stags take the floor at 2 p.m. with both teams looking to gain on the leaders.

Perpetual Help coach Jimwell Gican welcomed the long break, saying it helped main man Bright Akhuetie recover from his injury.

Describing himself as only at 40 percent, Akhuetie still finished with 19 points as Perpetual downed Jose Rizal U, 58-50, two weeks ago.

Limiting turnovers will be a priority for San Sebastian coach Egay Macaraya after his team committed 33 errors against Arellano.
