Bali Pure secured third place after repeating over Laoag, 25-27, 25-22, 25-23, 25-19, in the Shakey’s V-League Season 13 Open Conference Saturday at Philsports Arena in Pasig City.
The Water Defenders, who again missed the services of their superstar spiker Alyssa Valdez, rode on the efforts of Gretchel Soltones and Amy Ahomiro, who had 33 points combined.
“I’m very proud of the girls. This team was formed late coming into the season, but I’m so happy that these girls are very mature and they did not, even once, use that as an excuse,” said Bali Pure playing-coach Charo Soriano.
“I’m very happy with their performance. A lot of people stepped up.”
Soltones, who was formally named MVP of the conference shortly after the match, tallied a game-high 18 points.
“I’m very proud of Gretchel. She has shown that she is not the young Gretchel Soltones that we know, but a mature veteran already,” Soriano said.
Bali Pure won Game 1 of the best-of-three duel in five sets, 23-25, 25-21, 25-21, 25-19 15-11, last Wednesday.
Katherine Villegas had 16 points while Jema Galanza scored 12 for the Power Smashers.
