Soltones takes home first V-League MVP
Grethcel Soltones added another hardware to her trophy case.
Soltones, the hard-hitting Bali Pure spiker, was officially named MVP of the Shakey’s V-League Season 13 Open Conference Saturday at Philsports Arena in Pasig City.
Soltones received her first MVP plum in the V-League after leading the Water Defenders to a third-place finish following a four-set victory over Laoag.
The San Sebastian star, who starred with 18 points in the series-clinching win, is the reigning back-to-back MVP in the NCAA.
But despite Soltones’ individual dominance, the Water Defenders failed to get past the semifinals after losing to Pocari Sweat.
The Lady Warriors had three players feted with Myla Pablo recognized as 2nd Best Outside Spiker, Melissa Gohing as Best Libero and Michele Gumabao as Best Opposite Spiker.
Soltones’ teammate Alyssa Valdez, who missed the first two games of Bali Pure’s battle for third duel with Laoag, was named 1st Best Outside Spiker.
Collegiate stars Jaja Santiago of National University and Kathy Bersola of University of the Philippines were awarded as 1st Best Middle Blocker and 2nd Best Middle Blocker, respectively.
