AUSTRALIAN League club Perth Glory arrived in Manila yesterday for a pre-season training camp highlighted by a friendly match with the Philippine Azkals on Tuesday at Quirino Stadium in Vigan, Ilocos Sur.
Glory kicks off a three-game swing in the country with a friendly against United Football League powerhouse Global FC at 3:30 p.m. today at Rizal Memorial Stadium.
While Glory is preparing for a hard grind back in the A-League, the Azkals also need tuneup matches as they prepare to host the AFF Suzuki Cup in December at Philippine Sports Stadium in Bulacan.
It will mark the first game for the Azkals since their 3-2 win over North Korea in the World Cup Qualifiers last March 29 at Rizal Memorial Stadium.
The Aussie club will also play against a UFL All-Star team on Saturday as part of the league’s all-star festivities. The Philippines against Rest of the World game will serve as the curtainraiser for the UFL All Stars-Perth Glory match.
Bannered by former Australian national and youth team standouts, Glory finished fifth in last season’s A-League.
