TAIPEI—Philippine representative Mighty Sports Apparels is not just about its seven imports.

Former PBA player Ty Tang and Fil-American Jason Brickman proved that Monday night as they led Mighty Sports in trouncing South Korea, 86-65, in the 38th William Jones Cup at Xinzhuang gym here.

The 5-foot-7 Tang scored just three points but effectively quarterbacked Mighty’s second quarter attack as the PH squad pulled away for good en route to a share of the lead with defending champion Iran at 2-0.

“We got quality minutes from Ty,” said coach Bo Perasol. “We are much better now than we were a week ago.”

Former PBA import Al Thornton paced the Filipinos with 24 points while the 5-foot-9 Brickman added five points and grabbed seven boards in almost 30 minutes of action.

Former PBA import Zach Graham and Dewarick Spencer  also chipped in 13 and 12 points, respectively, for Mighty.

Japan improved to 2-1 after downing Egypt, 71-66.

It was the second straight defeat for the Egyptians since their stunning 74-73 win over the Koreans.
