It has been a rarity to see Manny Pacquiao in the flesh during a PBA game.

Pacquiao, though, surprised PBA fans when he showed up with his wife Jinkee early in the first quarter of Mahindra’s game against reigning Governors’ Cup champion San Miguel Beer at Smart Araneta Coliseum on Wednesday.

“Nagkataon lang na ngayon wala kaming session, so may time ako manood at suportahan ang team ko,” Pacquiao, Mahindra’s playing-coach, said in a TV interview.

Session in Senate is suspended Wednesday to give way to the National Security Council meeting.

The last time the boxing star was with his team during a game was last Nov. 7 when he saw action for the Enforcers in a loss to the Alaska Aces in Dubai two conferences ago.

The 37-year-old Pacquiao played two games in the Philippine Cup, the other was when he made his first goal in a loss to Rain or Shine on Oct. 25.

Pacquiao had been busy after that Dubai game training for his third fight with Timothy Bradley and the May elections where he was elected senator.

He announced his retirement after his lopsided victory over Bradley in April, but could be on his way back into the ring later this year with rumors surrounding his comeback intensifying in the past several months.

Mahindra is currently among the league’s leaders this conference tied with San Miguel and TNT at 2-0.
