San Beda enjoyed some clutch performances from two newcomers, Robert Bolick and Davon Potts, in its seventh
win in the NCAA Season 92 Men’s Basketball Tournament, taking down, Mapua 85-74.

Both came away with clutch plays to pound the Cardinals and both couldn’t hold their appreciation for each other Thursday at San Juan Arena.

“I love Bolick to death,” said Potts who had a game-high 25 points. “Me and him had a very long way. We both started at San Beda’s Team B, and Bolick knows, I love this dude to death.”

Potts was with Cal State Los Angeles before moving to the Philippines to San Beda while Bolick spent his first collegiate years with De La Salle.

Both may be newcomers to the illustrious San Beda lineage, but the two had the courage to carry the burden of the red army.

Bolick had a near triple-double of 10 points, including the last four that fended off Mapua’s late-game charge, 12 rebounds, and eight assists.

San Beda had a 20-point lead midway through the third, 62-42, but the Cardinals slowly trimmed the deficit to six, 80-74.

Bolick’s final assist was to the open Potts who knocked down the final three points of the game.

“When you see Davon, AC [Soberano], Raj [Tongco] wide-open, and pag di mo pinasa ‘bobo ka na,’” said Bolick. “If they’re open, I can see them miles away and why force your shot if they have a better shot and they can make it.”
