FOTON’S firepower proved too much for F2 Logistics’ youthful spirit last night.

Drawing strength from their top caliber spikers, the Tornadoes finally ended the Cargo Movers’ unbeaten run with a masterful 19-25, 25-20, 25-23, 25-19, in the Philippine Superliga All Filipino Conference women’s volleyball at Filoil Flying V Centre.

In marching to its fifth straight victory, the resurgent Foton dealt F2 Logistics’ first defeat in 10 games overall.

The Tornadoes thus swept all three games in the Group A competition.

Cherry Rondina left the game after spraining her right ankle early in the fourth set.

But that was not a problem for the Tornadoes, who had Jaja Santiago leading the charge with quick spikes.

“We were concerned when Sisi (Rondina) was injured but we maintained our intensity,” said Santiago in Filipino.

The 6-foot-4 Santiago scored 19 points, including six blocks, to lead Foton’s net defense that hounded F2 Logistics all game long.

Veteran setter Rhea Dimaculangan efficiently distributed the ball among Foton’s hitters, making 31 excellent sets on top of five markers.

Generika swept the Group B round after downing Standard Insurance-Navy, 25-16, 25-17, 20-25, 25-13, in the opening game.

In the nightcap, Petron defeated RC Cola-Army, 25-19, 25-22, 25-16, for its first win in Group A.

Ria Meneses led with 16 points for Generika, which also got double-digit performances from Gen Casugod (14), Shaya Adorador (13) and Chloe Cortez (12).
