Former Azkal center back Anton del Rosario has launched a social sports application called “Laro,” primarily for the sports-minded.
“I launched an application about a month ago; it’s called Laro, Filipino word for play. We wanted it very Filipino, coming from the Philippines. I had this idea coz I’m very sports-minded, so I’m pretty much putting up a social network for sports-loving people,” Del Rosario said about his brainchild during his July 27 guesting at Inquirer’s ShowbizLIVE.
The application is basically a social metrics for sports enthusiasts who are interested in knowing like-minded people in a friendly and cool way.
“If you wanted to go running after we did this interview, you just hop on the application and it will find people running around your vicinity that you can link up with, and people can create games through the application; this goes for any sport, and people could join it,” he said.
“I thought of this application to make it more friendly for people to get together to play sports and I came up with this application Laro,” he added.
Inspiration for the creation of this app is his father who was a tennis player. He recounted how his father went through the hassles just to find somebody whom he could play tennis with, when social networks were not yet a fad.
“One of the reasons why I came up with this application is because my dad’s a tennis player and he used to go to this website and pay 30 dollars a month and make an awkward phone call to some random person whom he could play tennis with,” he said.
The former Azkal, who is a father to a 5-year-old son, said the application has been worked on very carefully to give sports people a good social venue to widen their network. The application is now ready for download.
“I partnered up with some developers (to evolve) my idea. They developed the app, it’s come out perfect, now we’re just launching it and ready have it rolled out to the public,” he said.
“Laro” application can be downloaded at the following:

With his belief and enthusiasm for the app and what it could bring to sports people, Del Rosario is eager to promote the app to the public.
“Give us a “Like,” give us a “Follow,” I’m sure you guys will enjoy the application. It’s something that everybody needs out here. If you’re into sports or if you’re wanting to get into sports, it will connect you guys to other active-lifestyle people. Who knows it could be your future wife or husband,” he said.
Good news for thrifty “techies” and “sporties,” Laro app will not hurt the pockets.
“It is absolutely free,” Del Rosario said.
ShowbizLIVE can be viewed every Wednesday at 8-9 p.m. on Radyo Inquirer, Inquirer 990 Television and on Inquirer.net website, Facebook, YouTube and Periscope.
