Accelerators seek rebound against Dragons

AFTER losing its grip on the top two berths, Phoenix looks to regain its fighting form in the PBA D-League Foundation Cup Tuesday night.

“I’m positive that the team will bounce back,” said Phoenix coach Eric Gonzales.

The Accelerators, who dropped back-to-back games to slide to third (7-3), vow to go hard against the Blustar Detergent Dragons at 6 p.m.

After lording it over for most of the elimination round, the Accelerators slipped to third.

So Gonzales thinks there’s no choice for the Accelerators but to sweep their remaining assignments after blowing their games against Racal (9-2) and Cafe France (8-2), the two teams now holding the lead.

The three squads remain in the hunt for the top two slots and the twice-to-beat edge in the semifinals.

“Our last two games are must-wins,” said Gonzales, whose wards will have a strong shot at wresting a spot in the top two, or at least, getting a favorable quotient in case of a three-way tie if they accomplish a sweep.

The Accelerators, boasting a star-studded cast led by Mac Belo, Mike Tolomia, Ed Daquioag and Roger Pogoy, are favored over the  Dragons. Jasmine W. Payo
