D-League: Phoenix exacts revenge on Cafe France

PHOENIX got back at fierce rival Cafe France with a morale-boosting 91-83 triumph last night to zero in on a twice-to-beat edge heading into the semifinals of the 2016 PBA D-League Aspirants’ Cup at JCSGO Gym in Cubao.

The trio of Mike Tolomia, Mac Belo and Ed Daquioag struck the hardest, particularly in the second half as the Accelerators rolled to their ninth victory against three defeats.

The victory placed the Accelerators in prime position to nab the other semifinal bonus at the expense of the Bakers, who fell to third spot at 8-3.

Phoenix’s win almost overshadowed Gelo Alolino’s heroics for Tanduay, which nipped AMA Online Education, 86-84. Alolino, the former National U standout, nailed the go-ahead triple with 4.6 seconds left.
