San Beda stayed on top of the NCAA Season 92 men’s basketball tournament, stopping San Sebastian, 87-77 Friday at Filoil Flying V Centre in San Juan.

Though the Red Lions rolled on to their eighth straight victory, coach Jamike Jarin was disappointed with his team’s 32 turnovers.

“We’re happy because we won, I’m mad because we had 32 turnovers and they didn’t even press us,” he said. “We’re playing selfish right now. We need to clean this up.”

“We’re just lucky that we came out with the win.”

Donald Tankoua and Dan Sara teamed up to pull the Red Lions away in the third frame for a 68-53 advantage, which they would preserve until the end.

Tankoua led San Beda with 20 points, five rebounds, and four blocks, while Davon Potts added 13 markers and four boards.

Arnaud Noah also chipped in 10 points, and Javee Mocon got seven markers, seven rebounds, and six dimes.

Though Jarin was exasperated with his team’s lackluster showing, he believes that San Beda can still clean up its act against JRU on Tuesday.

“It’s nothing to worry about. It’s just disappointing,” he said.

Regille Ilagan topped San Sebastian (1-8) with 20 points in a 5-of-11 shooting from beyond the arc that went with six assists and three rebounds.

Allyn Bulanadi also had 13 markers and eight boards in the defeat.
