Rey Guevarra is once again the PBA Slam Dunk king, taking home his third straight Slam Dunk Competition title Friday at Smart Araneta Coliseum.

He finished with a total of 97 points in the final round, getting the better of Meralco teammate Chris Newsome who had 96.

Guevarra needed a 47 in his final dunk to eclipse Newsome, and he got just that when he jumped over Rain or Shine teammates Raymond Almazan and Jericho Cruz.

His first dunk scored 50 when he completed a reverse between the legs.

Newsome’s first dunk was worth 46 when he juggled three balls and chose only one for a self alley-oop jam. His second got a 50 punching home a 360 dunk off Scottie Thompson’s backboard pass.

Ginebra’s Franklin Bonifacio and NLEX’s James Forrester were eliminated in the first round after accumulating 80 and 74 points, respectively.
