Former PBA star Willie Miller is set to replace Filipino-American Robbie Herndon as the Philippines’ representative to the world finals set later this year in Serbia.
The 22-year-old Herndon, who won the the first-ever King of the Rock tournament in country last March, has decided to apply for this year’s PBA Rookie Draft. He is a former NCAA Division II player for San Francisco State University.
Miller, a two-time MVP in the PBA who finished behind Herndon in the finals, will face 63 of the best streetball players from all over the globe in the world finals carrying the Philippine flag.
King of the Rock is the world’s largest and most prestigious 1-on-1 street basketball tournament held every year.
In its debut season in the country, King of the Rock held qualifiers in the cities of Cebu, Caloocan, and Quezon. At the national finals, the top 24 players battled in intense single-elimination rounds before Herndon and Miller emerged as the top two.
