PSL: Standard Insurance Navy avoids last place, beats Amy’s

Standard Insurance Navy avoided last place in the Philippine Superliga All-Filipino Conference after beating Amy’s Kitchen, 25-13, 25-17, 17-25, 25-9, Sunday at Filoil Flying V Centre in San Juan.
Amy’s settled for eighth seed at the end of the classification rounds.
Pau Soriano led the way for the Corvettes with 18 points while Hezzymie Acuña and Carissa Martinez added 10 points apiece.
Corvettes head coach Zenaida Chavez was pleased with how her team played with joy in their final game of the conference.
“Siguro nakita ko yung enjoyment sa game, kasi dati pine-pressure nila mga sarili nila,” said Chavez. “Ngayon kahit anong mangyari, banat na, nothing to lose.”
Lourdes Clemente had 11 points to lead the Spikers while Jowie Verzosa had 10.
Navy brought out the cannons and bombarded Amy’s with 45 scoring spikes while the Spikers converted just 26 of their 159 attempts./rga
