Abueva skips All-Star Game due to tonsillitis, dehydration

Wonder why Calvin Abueva was absent in Sunday’s All-Star Game?

PBA deputy commissioner Rickie Santos shared that the energetic Alaska forward was taken to Cardinal Santos Medical Center at 3 a.m. on Saturday due to tonsillitis and dehydration.

Alaska assistant coach Jeffrey Cariaso also answered a query on Twitter regarding Abueva’s absence.

“As much as he wanted to be there, hindi niya lang talaga kaya,” Cariaso wrote.

Abueva was voted into his fourth straight All-Star Game after debuting in his rookie season.

Rain or Shine’s Gabe Norwood replaced Abueva in the starting lineup of the North All-Stars.
