What, me worry?
That should be what Miguel Tabuena is telling his fellow athletes everytime he goes to bed in his room at the Olympic Village in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
While players, coaches and support staff got their repellents or whatever lotions to combat the Zika scare, Tabuena brought to Brazil what the golf star thinks is better and safer for a good night’s sleep: the old-fashioned mosquito net or what Pinoys call the kulambo.
So even the bravest and deadliest Zika-carrying arthropods said to be hovering all over the city don’t stand a chance against Miguel, one of only 13 Pinoy athletes to make it to Brazil.
The little flies will just bounce away from Tabuena’s impenetrable wall of defense and look for some other person’s skin to pierce.
His fellow athletes have all found his solution very interesting, indeed.
With the kulambo, he can continue dreaming of that gold medal the Philippines has been waiting for at the Quadrennial Games.
And maybe make it a reality this week./rga
