GALLERY: Hidilyn Diaz’ humble beginnings

Before she got her moment at the podium in the most prestigious sporting event in the world, Hidilyn Diaz was just a small town girl with big dreams.

She lived a simple life with her family in their humble mini bungalow house in Zamboanga City. Her weightlifting equipment, which helped her become the country’s first medalist in the Olympics in the last two decades, were mostly donated by friends and family.
