With a dream start to their conference, the Enforcers return to action today looking to take another step closer toward a Cinderella ending as Mahindra takes on dangerous Phoenix Petroleum and Eugene Phelps at Smart Araneta Coliseum in Cubao.
Game time is 4:15 p.m. with all eyes on the import match-up between the bull-strong Phelps, who earned the nickname “El Destructor” in Puerto Rico, and the tireless and youthful James White who will try to lead the Enforcers to a fifth straight victory.
Tied for the lead with idle TNT KaTropa, the Enforcers have brought down—no offense to the Fuel Masters—squads packing a lot more talent, making them the logical picks to prevail today and inch closer to the playoffs.
Phelps debuted in style for the Fuel Masters more than a week ago, logging in 52 points that went with 16 rebounds as Phoenix snapped a three-game losing streak and finally broke through.
That was the most prolific first game for any import since Darius Rice dropped 56 for Purefoods in the 2008 Fiesta Conference, and that ability to score will be the main concern on the Mahindra defense today.
LA Revilla will likely miss his second game for the Enforcers, who also got a huge lift from unheralded Keith Agovida in their last win, a come-from-behind masterpiece against Alaska, before the All-Star break.
Meanwhile, Star, formerly Purefoods, unveils its new import against Henry Walker and the NLEX Road Warriors in the 7 p.m. contest with both sides in dire need of victories. With 1-3 records, Stars and NLEX cannot afford another defeat.
