AC Soberano went on a hot streak and claimed the Three-Point Shootout crown in the NCAA All-Star Friday at Filoil Flying V Center in San Juan.

Starting out flat in the Finals, the 22-year-old got his groove going in the third rack and nailed four out of his five money balls to secure the title and outlast San Sebastian’s RK Ilagan and Mapua’s Exe Biteng.

“Di ko talaga in-expect kasi sila RK at Biteng yung paborito. Ginawa ko lang yung best ko at pinaghandaan ko talaga,” he said.

Soberano said that his failed bid last year fueled him to aspire for the bigger prize, tweaking his strategies to win the crown.

“Doon talaga ako nag-focus sa moneyball rack. Sa amin kasi, malaki ang expectations nila sa akin,” he said.

Ilagan scored 15 in the championship round, while Biteng got 11.

Soberano flashed his dominance in the eliminations, topping the field with 23 points, while Ilagan and Biteng had 17 to advance to the Finals.

Also competing were Rey Nambatac, Wilson Baltazar, Paolo Evardo, Jervin Guzman, Carlo Young, McKevin Velasquez, and Zach Nicholls.
