MANILA, Philippines – Filipino star Dennis Orcollo seeks revenge against German ace Ralf Souquet when the Philippine Bigtime Billiards (PBB) Face Off Series kicks off on November 5 at the Pagcor Airport Casino in Parañaque City.
Orcollo, current world No. 1 and world 8-ball champion, lost to Souquet, 8-5, in the World Pool Masters finals last month in Manila.
“I was leading against Ralf comfortably (5-3) when a slight defect on the table made my defensive shot miss its target,” said Orcollo, the spearhead of Bugsy Promotions. “I know I could have gotten that title.”
Souquet, former world 8-ball and 9-ball champion, will be arriving on November 2 in time for a press conference at the Billiards Managers and Players Association of the Philippines headquarters in Quezon City.
“I feel honored to be invited to play against the best billiards player in the world and I promise to play my best,” said Souquet.
The PBB Face Off is a joint undertaking of Mega Sports World and BRKHRD Corp.
A race-to-9 10-ball affair, the Face Off is set to give Philippine billiards another milestone as the first to be aired worldwide through the Internet at www.megasportsworld.com and Solar Sports every Saturday.
The Orcollo-Souquet match will usher in a series of challenge matches being put up by Mega Sports World and BRKHRD Corp.
Also to be pitted against other world-rated players are Hall of Famer Efren “Bata” Reyes, Francisco “Django” Bustamante, Ronato “Volcano” Alcano, Roberto Gomez, Lee Vann Corteza, Antonio “Nickoy” Lining, Renemar David, Leonardo Andam and Carlo Biado.
The foreign field includes the likes of Mika “The Iceman” Immonen of Finland, Thorsten “The Hitman” Hohmann of Germany, Johnny “The Scorpion” Archer, Shane Van Boening, Charlie “Dragon” Williams and Mike Dechaine of the USA, Daryl Peach and Darren Appleton of England and Yang Ching-shun, Chang Jun-ling and Ko Pin-yi of Chinese-Taipei.
