It’s been two years since Aby Maraño left De La Salle University heartbroken and in tears as the Lady Spikers lost to the Lady Eagles of Ateneo in the UAAP Season 76 women’s volleyball championship.
De La Salle was on the verge of a four-peat in the UAAP volleyball championships when Alyssa Valdez steered the Lady Eagles to two straight titles.
Two years on, Maraño has finally achieved the feat she wanted to do with the girls whom she called sisters, and that is to win a title.
Maraño powered F2 Logistics over Foton in the Philippine Super Liga All-Filipino Conference championship round and fulfilled the promise she made three years ago to the Lady Spikers.
“Super saya. Naiyak nga ako, nakapag champion ako kasama kayo,” said Maraño to her teammates at F2 Logistics, the same people she left in La Salle back in 2014.
When that same squad avenged its loss with a crown in Season 78 of the UAAP, Maraño was just sitting in the bleachers.
This time around, Maraño she was front and center.
