Far Eastern University weathered the green-and-maroon storm and took down University if the Philippines in five sets, 27-25, 25-22, 18-25, 23-25, 15-8, to remain unbeaten in the preliminaries of the Shakey’s V-League Collegiate Conference Saturday at San Juan Arena.

Lady Tamaraws team captain Remy Palma blocked Isa Molde on the latter’s attempt to extend the match to seal their victory and a 4-0 record in the eliminations while UP slipped to 1-1.

FEU head coach Shaq Delos Santos said he had to calm his players down when the Lady Maroons rallied back from two sets down to force a fifth set.

“Sabi ko lang sa kanila na habaan lang nila pasensiya nila kasi maganda ang gama na ito,” said Delos Santos. “After fourth set sabi ko na kalimutan na yung apat na set kasi tapos na ito. Itong fifth set dun namin malalaman kung nasaan na kami.”

FEU impressed to start the fourth set establishing a 5-0 lead that pushed the Lady Tamaraws’ momentum.

Toni Rose Basas led the Lady Tamaraws with 24 points while Palma added 15.

Jerrili Malabanan and Bernadeth Pons also finished in double digits with 11 and 10 points, respectively.

Isa Molde and Diana Carlos led the Lady Maroons with 20 points apiece.
