San Miguel import AZ Reid said on Friday there’s a possibility he will miss future games for the Beermen due to a sore Achilles’ tendon in his right foot.

Reid has been playing consistently upwards of 40 minutes per game in each of San Miguel’s six games.

“I’m not going to play if I continue to play like this,” said Reid at Ynares Sports Center Antipolo after their 98-92 loss to Globalport. “It happens. Injuries are part of the sport and my Achilles [expletive] up.”

San Miguel has a 4-2 record and is in a logjam with Barangay Ginebra and Mahindra in the second seed behind the unbeaten TNT, and Reid projects himself sitting out games in the remaining five games of the Governors’ Cup.

Reid added he felt the pain after their victory over Ginebra on Aug. 14.

“It didn’t get better and it only got worse. I can’t really move the way I want to. I can’t get the lift on my jumpshots. I got a lot of points in the post but I’m not right,” said Reid who had 41 points and 15 rebounds in their loss to the Batang Pier.

“Of course there’s a big prospect [of me sitting out games]. I’m not going to tear my body up. Yes I want to play, but I have to be smart and my foot is a major part and it’s my priority.”
