UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor will be inactive for at least two months after the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) medically suspended him on Monday (Tuesday Manila time).
The Irish bruiser beat Nate Diaz via majority decision at UFC 202 on Saturday (Sunday Manila time) in Las Vegas but suffered a possible foot injury.
McGregor first has to gain an orthopedic clearance on his left foot fracture or he will face inactivity until February 17 next year. The re-evaluation is on October 20.
Until then, McGregor can’t have any training with contact until October 5.
But McGregor shouldn’t worry too much as MMAFighting.com reports that other than his sore shin, he is healthy all throughout.
McGregor’s head coach, John Kavanagh, also told MMA Hour that the shin injury has been there before for some time.
The brash Irish is expected to return to the featherweight division to defend his title against contenders Jose Aldo and Frankie Edgar next after his pair of fights with Diaz.
Diaz, meanwhile, was suspended for 30 days.
