Andrew Estrella provided Mapua the push it needed in the fourth quarter to beat Lyceum, 90-75, in the NCAA Season 92 men’s basketball tournament Tuesday at Filoil Flying V Centre in San Juan.

Estrella scored all of his 12 points in the final frame, including eight in the last three minutes, as the Cardinals broke away from a 66-deadlock to post their seventh win in 11 games.

“I just played my game and did what my coaches told me to do,” said Estrella in Filipino.

The 23-year-old guard, who is in his fourth playing year, also collected five rebounds and five assists.

The Cardinals’ reigning MVP Allwell Oraeme played true to form with game-highs 27 points, 25 rebounds and four blocks, outworking the Pirates’ starting big men of Mike Nzeusseu and Jesper Ayaay.

“This is an important game for us because the last two games I haven’t playing well. We really needed this win to get our confidence going,” Oraeme said.

Nzeusseu struggled offensively with only seven points on 1-of-9 shooting from the field. He missed his first eight shots and didn’t make his first field goal until the game neared the two-minute warning.

Wilson Baltazar fired 17 points for Lyceum, which slipped to seventh place with a 5-6 slate.
