Far Eastern University may have given itself its lone loss in the Shakey’s V-League Collegiate Conference.
Against National University, FEU held a 2-1 set lead and having just taken the third with a commanding 25-14 performance, a win was just over the horizon for the Lady Tamaraws.
But NU foiled the Lady Tamaraws bid as roared back and took the match in five sets, 25-17, 24-26, 14-25, 25-18, 15-11.
“Medyo nag relax kami, pero OK lang yun kasi challenge yun,” said FEU team captain Remy Palma.
“Maraming kulang sa team namin and kailangang paghirapan namin each and every game na makaharap namin.”
FEU was riding a five-game win streak into the quarterfinals but two costly errors in the fifth set saw it crumble into an afterthought.
FEU tried to fight back from NU’s 10-4 lead in the decider and closed the gap 12-10 before costly miscues ultimately awarded the win to the Lady Bulldogs.
“Ayun biglang nag shift yung momentum, napunta sa kanila momentum,” said Palma who had 14 points. “Naunahan kami sa fifth set so nahirapan na kaming bumalik.”
