University of Perpetual Help put College of St. Benilde on the wrong side of history with a 70-45 walloping of St. Benilde in the NCAA Season 92 Men’s Basketball Tournament Thursday at San Juan Arena.
It’s now the 12th straight loss for the winless Blazers, the worst start in the school’s history since joining the NCAA in 1998.
CSB’s 45-point output is also the worst offensive showing of a team this season.
And the Altas’ stingy had a lot to do with that as they allowed the Blazers just 17 points in the final two quarters.
Perpetual bounced back from a 71-55 shocker to San Sebastian and head coach Jimwell Gican said his Altas used the loss as a motivation to step up against the Blazers.
“Galing kami sa talo so kailangan gawin lahat ng tama,” said Gican whose team has a 9-3 record. “Malaki talaga yung depensa and yung offense sumunod na lang.”
Bright Akhuetie led the Altas with 15 points.
JJ Domingo was the lone bright spot for CSB as he finished with 19 points.
