Mac Cardona may be fighting his own battle, but his team is with him every step of the way.
Asi Taulava and the rest of the NLEX Road Warriors reaffirmed their support to Cardona, who is still recovering from pill overdose.
“We’re all praying for him that he pushes through, it’s a tough time for him but you know, we will support him,” Taulava said after NLEX lost to Meralco, 101-95, on Wednesday.
“The management is doing everything for Macmac. He’s been transferred to Makati Med, to our company hospital and he can have all the help that he can have. We’re happy that he’s doing better, he’s condition is doing good, hopefully he can pull through. All of us are here to support him.”
The 43-year-old Taulava said the team is also planning to pay Cardona a visit on Friday after the Road Warriors’ game against the Phoenix Fuel Masters at Araneta Coliseum in Cubao.
“We’ve been focused to this two game, but management told us to wait before he can get to stable condition, to be more active. I think he’s been doing a lot of test right now, so probably after Friday’s game, as a team, they told us to go and see how he’s doing, to lift up his spirit.”
In NLEX’s latest statement released on Tuesday, team manager Ronald Dulatre said the veteran swingman’s condition is “improving” after figuring in a reported suicide attempt last Sunday.
