Italian coach pleased as Foton wins 1st game in Thailand tilt
FOTON Pilipinas is ready to take on Asia’s best clubs.
That’s the prognosis of Italian coach Fabio Menta of the Tornadoes, who finally nailed a win after three starts in the ongoing Select Tuna Thailand Volleyball League.
Article continues after this advertisementThe squad, prepping up for the Sept. 3-11 Asian Volleyball Confederation Women’s Club Championships, defeated Rangsit University, 25-23, 25-19, 25-20, Friday at Wi Sommai gymnasium in Sisaket Province, Thailand.
Menta said he’s satisfied with the way Foton Pilipinas played so far, saying the team “played point by point with Asia’s best,” referring to league defending champion Bangkok Glass.
Bangkok Glass dealt the Filipinas’ first loss (20-25, 22-25, 25-20, 18-25) before EPA Sisaket made it a back-to-back loss (13-25, 10-25, 18-25).
