Far Eastern University stepped a little closer to the semifinals of the Shakey’s V-League Collegiate Conference after fending off San Sebastian, 27-25, 25-20, 25-11, in the quarterfinals Saturday at San Juan Arena.
It’s now a 3-1 quarterfinals record for the Lady Tamaraws and one more win would send them to the Final Four.
Substitute Jeanette Villareal ended the Lady Stags’ third set misery with a well-placed kill from the left field.
“Naibalik namin yung totoong game namin, yung four straight wins maganda eh, pero nung last game sa NU [National University] nag-off game,” said Lady Tamaraws head coach Shaq Delos Santos as they bounced back from a loss to the Lady Bulldogs.
FEU was riding a four-game winning streak before hitting a roadblock against NU on Wednesday.
Bernadeth Pons led the Lady Tamaraws with 17 points, in a performance just after she fully-recovered from the flu.
Remy Palma added 14 points for FEU.
Grethcel Soltones led the 2-2 Lady Stags with 12 points.
