Muggsy Bogues favors Kobe Bryant to star in ‘Space Jam 2’

The sequel to the cult-classic “Space Jam” has yet to be confirmed, but it has generated quite a buzz, with NBA superstar LeBron James heavily speculated to take Michael Jordan’s place in the first film.

Former NBA player Muggsy Bogues, however, believes recently retired Los Angeles Lakers superstar Kobe Bryant should take His Airness’ place rather than the four-time MVP or even Clippers superstar Blake Griffin.

“I heard Michael say he would like to see Blake Griffin star as him, but I would’ve thought Kobe would kind of fit that mold more,”  the diminutive point guard, who was part of the original Space Jam cast, told the Charlotte Observer.

During one of his basketball camps last month, Jordan was asked who should take his place should the sequel materialize. As Bogues pointed out, he picked Griffin.

Although nothing has been made official, James’ partnership deal with Warner Bros. in July has continued to fuel speculations that he’d be the star in the sequel.

“Fast and Furious” director Justin Lin is said to be in talks to lead the sequel, with Drew Dodge and Alfredo Botello writing the screenplay.  Khristian Ibarrola
