Foton Pilipinas offers first AWCC victory to Davao

BIÑAN—Foton Pilipinas has offered its share of moral support for the people of Davao City.

Tornadoes head coach Fabio Menta, who is an Italian, offered his sympathy and prayers for the victims and survivors of a blast in Davao City that happened late Friday evening.

“We dedicate this victory to the people of Davao, it’s a difficult time for them, our thoughts are with them,” said Menta Saturday at Alonte Sports Arena here.

Foton Pilipinas trounced Hong Kong’s Kwai Tsing, 25-20, 25-14, 25-10, in its opener in the Asian Volleyball Confederation Asian Women’s Club Championships.

Davao, which is often labeled as one of the safest cities in the Philippines, is the hometown of President Rodrigo Duterte.

An explosion at the Davao Night Market killed at least 14 as of posting and injured scores more.
