Kazakhstan tramples Indonesia in AVC tournament

BIÑAN-Kazakhstan used its towering height and proceeded to trounce Indonesia, 25-12, 25-17, 25-17, in the preliminaries of the Asian Volleyball Confederation Asian Women’s Club Championship Saturday at Alonte Sports Arena.

Altay VC, the Kazakh representative, has an average height of 184 cm. while Jakarta Elektrik is at 171 cm.

April Manganang’s last ditch effort for Jakarta Elektrik went long, giving Altay VC its opening win the tournament.

Altay VC’s offense was on point as they unloaded 45 scoring spikes while allowing Jakarta Elektrik to just 26.

The Kazakhs practically dominated the Indonesians in every aspect as they registered eight blocks and 10 service aces.

Sana Anarkulova had 14 points to lead Altay VC while Olga Biryukova added 10.

Manganang carried much of the burden for Indonesia as she finished with 20 points.
