A PAIR of multisport events rolls off this month in Subic Bay and Iloilo City.
The Philippine Aquathlon Championships 2016 gets going on Sept. 11 at Camayan Beach Resort and Ocean Adventure in Subic Freeport, before action heads to Iloilo City with the National Duathlon Championships 2016 “Race for the Iloilo River” on Sept. 18 at Esplanade 1.
Veteran duathletes Mirasol Abad, Miscele Gilbuena, Bigboy Estevez and John Chicano banner the field of the event.
The aquathlon race, billed as the kick off for the Philippine Youth Olympic Games Qualifying Series, also serves as the national championship for several divisions including the youth, juniors and para athletes.
Elite and age-group duathletes must conquer the 8.5K run- 40K bike-6K run distance, while sprint racers face a 6K run-20K bike-2.6K run challenge.
The standard aquathlon features a 2.5K run-1K swim-2.5K run distance, while the sprint has a 1K run-600m swim-1K run course.
Registration deadline for the events sanctioned by Triathlon Association of the Philippines (Trap) is set on Sept. 7.
