SAN MIGUEL Beer’s two-time Best Import awardee Arizona Reid flew back to the United States Monday reportedly to have his leg injury examined by doctors there.

It is not certain whether Reid, who was replaced in the San Miguel lineup by Michael Singletary two weeks ago, will be able to come back soon to help in the team’s defense of its PBA Governors’ Cup championship.

The high-scoring Reid had stayed in the country hoping his injury would heal quickly.

There was no word from the San Miguel management and coaching staff on whether Reid could return to the lineup soon.

Singletary played in San Miguel’s last two games. The squad, tied for third with Mahindra at 6-3 going into the homestretch of the elimination round, is fancied to nail a top four berth and a twice-to-beat edge in the first round of the playoffs.

Meanwhile, Rain or Shine is said to be considering a replacement for its low-scoring import, Jason Forte, after bowing out of the top-four race with still two games left in its elimination-round schedule.

Forte averaged just eight points and six rebounds in his first two games with the Elasto Painters.

Rain or Shine coach Yeng Guiao said on Sunday night they would make a decision on Forte’s fate no later than today.

Rain or Shine is shooting for the franchise’s first back-to-back PBA titles after ruling the Commissioner’s Cup with Pierre Henderson-Niles, its fourth import for that tournament.
