Stephen Curry: 74 wins isn’t really a goal, it’s winning crown
It’s still over a month before the NBA regular season starts, but reigning NBA Most Valuable Player (MVP) Stephen Curry is already managing some lofty assumptions from fans.
Since the arrival of another former MVP Kevin Durant to the Bay Area, expectations have never been higher for last year’s runners-up, who eclipsed the 1996 Chicago Bulls’ record for most wins in the NBA regular season, by winning an unprecedented 73 games.

“74 (wins) isn’t really a goal. If it happens, it happens. All of our energy will be spent on getting ourselves ready for a championship run,” Curry said in a video posted on the Warrior’s official Twitter page on Tuesday.
“We want to have a great regular season obviously, we don’t want to have any slip-ups, but I don’t think coming into the season with the goal of 74 is a good focus. It’s about winning a championship,” he added.

The team, however, managed to sign veteran big men Zaza Pachulia and David West on cheap deals.
“I think we’ve added some great character guys that will fit right into our identity and who we are as a team, and there’s only one goal this year: obviously to win a championship, so whatever it takes to make that happen, I’m sure we’ll figure it out,” he said.
