Mbala focused on improvements as UAAP career begins

Ben Mbala scattered 13 points, 23 rebounds and four blocks on Wednesday in his UAAP debut—career numbers for most but subpar for the Cameroonian big man’s standards.

Despite putting an all-around performance, what caught Mbala’s attention was the aspects he still has to improve on.

“I think I still have a lot of adjustments to do. It’s pretty hard, but I just have to come back to playing my game,” Mbala told reporters after helping La Salle survive Far Eastern University, 83-78.

“This is really telling me a lot about the double team and triple team. So I need to learn how to make good decisions, when to score, when to look for open teammates.”

Mbala rued poor decision making that resulted to six turnovers and his woeful 5-of-13 shooting from the field.
