Bit-by-bit, Alaska is rebounding from its poor start this 2016 PBA Governors’ Cup.

Once saddled in the cellar carrying a 1-4 card, the Aces have slowly gotten out of the bottom four.

With its latest conquest, a 133-106 victory over GlobalPort on Wednesday, Alaska has now improved to 4-5, for a three-way tie for the seventh spot with NLEX and Rain or Shine.

And for Calvin Abueva, this game against the Batang Pier is a great stepping stone for his team as the Aces continue their drive to the playoffs.

Alaska takes on Phoenix on Saturday before wrapping up its eliminations schedule against NLEX on Friday next week.

But Abueva doesn’t want to get too ahead of himself, as coach Alex Compton continues to motivate his guys and look at their endeavor one game at a time.

“Hindi pa namin masabi na playoffs ang iniisip namin. Para sa amin, knockout game ito eh. Focus muna kami kung sino ang next kalaban namin,” he said.

“Right now, (Phoenix) talaga yung puntirya namin. Pinaplano namin kung paano sila i-stop at depensahan.”
