Intal returns to give Phoenix boost in crucial stretch

Motivated to contribute to Phoenix’s campaign this 2016 PBA Governors’ Cup, JC Intal finally made his debut this conference and started the game against Ginebra.

“I’m just very grateful na nakahabol ako kahit isang game sa eliminations,” he said, finishing the night with four points, a rebound, and an assist in 20 minutes of action.

Unfortunately, it wasn’t a great night for him and the Fuel Masters as they fell to the Gin Kings, 96-87.

Phoenix dropped to 5-6 as it awaits it quarterfinals fate, which is a possible playoff for a seat in the top eight.

“Disappointing. This is a very crucial game for us and we lost to Ginebra,” he said.

Intal, who is recovering from an ankle injury which sidelined him for the majority of the third conference, shared that he’s still yet from his top shape.

“As of now, I’m at 80-percent. Nandoon yung pain but I have to play through it. Tuloy-tuloy lang yung rehab.”

The former Blue Eagle is confident that the young franchise can still finish strong in its first post-season appearance.

“May pag-asa pa kami and we’re very positive,” he said. “Buhay pa ang team. It’s a very important game na natuto kami, learning experience ito.”
