Jett Manuel admits Maroons still struggling to change culture

Turning things around for University of the Philippines is not exactly a walk in the park.

Just ask Jett Manuel.

The UP skipper said the Fighting Maroons just “don’t know how to win” as they dropped to 0-3 after a close 83-77 loss to University of Santo Tomas Saturday at Smart Araneta Coliseum.

“We don’t know how to win, which basically what happened during the end game, everyone wanted to win no doubt,” said Manuel. “But as a team, it’s still hard to change the culture.”

UP has consistently finished in the bottom part of the standings in the UAAP men’s basketball tournament for the better part of the decade.

Still, Manuel said the team has to exert the effort in turning the State University’s basketball fortunes.

“Everyone’s down, everyone wants to win, hindi sa manhid kami sa talo but you know, we’re gonna win,” said Manuel. “We’re going to give more effort.”
